The Seward Park Campus of High Schools Fifth Annual College Fair

The Seward Park Campus of High Schools Fifth Annual College Fair can acquaint you with different college and community program options! Stay open to the colleges and programs represented and you will come away with new ideas that can change your life.

What to Ask Colleges and Community Based Organizations

Making the most of the fair

On Monday, October 19th, you will join some 1100 students and teachers at our annual college fair. Knowing what to ask college and community based organization representatives will help you to get the most out of your visit to the fair.

First: Look at the list of colleges and CBOs attending the fair.

Second: Write your own list of colleges and CBOs that you want to know more about.

Third: Make a list of questions that you would like to ask of these representatives.

What’s Important to Know

1.            Cost of the college

2.            Requirements for admission – Grade Point Averages and SAT/ACT scores required, portfolio, auditions

3.            Location of the college

4.            Is it in the country? The city?

5.            Is it far from NYC?

6.            In what sports division is this college?

7.            Is it a large college community? A small one?

8.            Think seriously about what you want in a college?

9.            How can this CBO help me on my journey to adulthood?

10.          Do I have an IEP?

11.          Can this organization help me to find work after high school?

12.          Do they have the major that I am interested in to study?

13.          Do they have support for students with disabilities?

Hello,

We found your information in the 2016 NYC High School Directory. We're casting a wide net to tell as many NYC-area high school educators as possible about an opportunity to expand young women's access to tech and STEM education.

We are now accepting nominations for female (cis- and trans-) 10th and 11th graders to attend our 2-day workshop at Pace University in Manhattan. One hundred students will be selected to attend.

Event: ChickTech: High School Kickoff
When: November 7-8, Pace University, 1 Pace Plaza, New York, NY
Cost: FREE, MetroCard and Meals included
Deadline: Nominations are due by Oct. 16

Those selected will participate in 1 of 7 workshops including 3D printing, web design, soft circuits, digital media, mobile app development, game development and robotics. It's a fun, positive learning experience designed to build participants' confidence in their technical abilities.

ChickTech is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing the number of women and girls in technology. We do this by creating fun hands-on technology workshops. Find out more about us here<http://chicktech.us10.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=618791961b3353b3bab813749&id=947f67b4c6&e=f8205ccc98>.
