The Teen Center at the West Side YMCA would like to invite you and your Teens to attend The Teen Outreach Reproductive Challenge program (TORCH) workshop entitled “Keeping it Real with your Doctor” February 4th, 2014 at 4pm.
“Keeping it Real with your Doctor,” is an informational workshop that empowers Teens to discuss important health issues with their healthcare providers. The workshop addresses communication barriers teens may have and offers the opportunity for teens to learn strategies on how to talk more openly with their healthcare providers.
The peer led workshop is purely informational and will be monitored by adults including, West Side Teen Director, Johann Dubouzet and Rosario m. Velazquez, MSW intern.
This event is open to all Teens. If you would like to bring your teens please RSVP by Friday January 31st, 2014 to rvelazquez@ymcanyc.org.
What: Keeping it Real with your Doctor – Peer led discussion
When: Tuesday, February 4th, 2014 at 4pm.
Where: West Side YMCA Teen Center
Workshops Goals:
- Understand the reproductive health care services teens are able to access in New York State without their parents consent or permission.
- Prepare for a sexual health care visit to a health care provider by knowing what to expect from the visit and how to advocate for adolescents’ health care rights.
