Spring Break High School Student Internship Opportunity

            

Apply Now for Exciting Animal Care Internship this Spring Break!

Current high school students in grades 10-12 can apply for an exciting animal care internship at the Genovesi Environmental Study Center (GESC). Do you appreciate and respect animals? Do you want to learn how to take care of them? The Animal Care Intern will work with GESC staff to feed, clean, and enrich our animals and their homes. GESC is looking for students who are excited about working closely with animals, can multitask efficiently, and are enthusiastic about learning.

 

Prospective interns are required to interview for their position at GESC. We are located at 7151 Avenue T, Brooklyn, NY 11234. Interviews will be approximately 30 minutes long between the hours of 8:00am-2:00pm on February 20, 21, or 22, 2018

School letters and Working papers

Dear Parents/Guardians,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

If you are in need of a school letter for taxes, NYCHA, SNAP, recertification, etc. please send me an email with your child's first and last name and specifically indicate what the letter is for or whom the letter should be addressed to.

The letter requested will be at the front desk bulletin board in an envelope with your child's name written on it 1-2 days after request.

Please do not wait until the last minute to request a letter.   Please remind your child to pick up the letter or indicate in email sent if you would like the letter mailed to you.

Forms that need to be completed by the school for SSI/Social Security require 2 days to be completed.  Forms that request teacher feedback take additional time.  Please plan accordingly.

Please remember and encourage your child to obtain working papers NOW before the SYEP program begins this summer.  Too many students wait until the last minute to obtain their working papers.  You do not need to have a job to obtain working papers.  If you completed a permission slip for the school's health clinic your child can get the required physical at the clinic and not miss school.  All forms and instructions can be found on the LoMA website.

La carta solicitada estará en el tablero de la recepción en un sobre con el nombre de su hijo escrito en él 1-2 días después de la solicitud .

Por favor, no espere hasta el último minuto para solicitar una carta. Por favor recuérdele a su hijo que recoja la carta o indique en el correo electrónico enviado si desea que le enviemos la carta por correo.

Los formularios que la escuela debe completar para SSI / Seguridad Social requieren 2 días para completarse. Los formularios que solicitan comentarios de los maestros toman tiempo adicional. Por favor planifique en consecuencia.

Recuerde y anime a su hijo a obtener documentos de trabajo AHORA antes de que comience el programa SYEP este verano. Demasiados estudiantes esperan hasta el último minuto para obtener sus documentos de trabajo. No necesita tener un trabajo para obtener documentos de trabajo. Si completó un permiso para la clínica de salud de la escuela, su hijo puede obtener el examen físico requerido en la clínica y no faltar a la escuela.
