Summer Art Intensive 2016 application deadline

Online applications to The Cooper Union's pre-college Summer Art Intensive 2016 due April 27th.

We are excited to see the many applications coming in for The Cooper Union Summer Art Intensive 2016. Applications are due on April 27th at midnight and are available online here. The program accepts resident and non-resident students, ages 15-18, who will be living in New York City or surrounding areas this summer during the course of the program. Instructions regarding the online applications are listed here.

 

Summer Artists in Residence announced

 

This July, in conjunction with the Cooper Union Summer Art Intensive, four artists will be in residence in the sixth-floor studios. Allison MalinskyDaina MattisGaHee Park, and Leah Wolff will make the life of an artist tangible to high school students. Read more here.

When Summer changes everything!

 

The summer is a special time for students dreaming of college acceptance, particularly for admission to schools of art and design. Often art classes in community schools are underfunded or under scheduled. Finding mentorship, a role model, someone who supports talent, seriousness, and commitment, and who will act on behalf of those aspirations and goals is crucial. Read more here.

Lower East Side Residents:

Site 1 (242 Broome Street)

 

This week Site 1 will be placing the concrete mud slab and installing rebar for the mat slab, in addition to exporting soil. The concrete trucks and concrete pump will be located within the site. The drill rig will also be located within the site gate. Flag persons will be positioned at the gate to direct pedestrian & vehicular traffic. Noise and dust control will be standard daily operations. No after-hours work in anticipated. 

 

Site 2 (115 Delancey Street)

 

Site 2 will continue installation of the sub-cellar pile caps and structural slab.  At the cellar level, installation of pile caps will continue and waterproofing and structural slab installation will begin.  Both of these activities will continue on Saturday, April 2nd between the hours of 9am-5pm.  After-hours work may occur on Wednesday, March 30th thru Friday, April 1st depending on the size of concrete pours scheduled for those days.

 

Site 5 (145 Clinton Street)

 

Foundation and superstructure work continues at Site 5. Underslab plumbing and electrical installations continue along with concrete pours. Concrete pours are anticipated to take place on Tuesday, March 29th and Friday, April 1st in the early morning hours.   

  

Site 6 (175 Delancey Street)

 

The coming week's activity at Site 6 includes erecting forms for the west half of the 1st floor and pouring concrete for the east half of the 1st floor slab. Due to the size of the concrete pour early next week, some finishing work may occur in the evening. A pour on the west side of the 1st floor is anticipated to take place on Saturday, April 2nd.
