FW: Blood Drive at Memorial Slone Kettering Cancer Center

Subject: Blood Drive at Memorial Slone Kettering Cancer Center

2015 DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT BLOOD DRIVE      MARCH 23 – APRIL 10

In conjunction with our MSK BLOOD DONOR PROGRAM, we encourage everyone to donate blood and/or platelets during our annual blood drive, and request they reach out to Family & Friends asking them to donate too. All donations ultimately benefit our MSK patients.  Please keep in mind that cancer patients are in dire need of blood/platelets for optimal survival.  It is the same, if not more so, needed as chemo therapy and all other therapies used in combination with treatment.

Here are some testimonials from former patients who were able to receive the ultimate gift for themselves or family members, for their recovery…

“I was a blood donor when I was healthy but never took the time to donate platelets.  It is incredible that you took so much of your time and gave it, and a big part of you, to a stranger.”  ~ David B.

“How can I thank you enough for your GIFT OF LIFE? THANK YOU for keeping my “boat afloat” and helping the lives of so many other patients at MSKCC. Your decision to give of yourself in this manner will forever line in the hearts of the many people that  you are now a part of.” ~ Marilyn H.

“Chemotherapy has it’s pros and cons…dropping blood levels and depleting platelets, plasma and red and white blood cells is very common.  Blood donations are vital and critical to the process of treatment.  This is a scary point for parents, because family members are not allowed to donate their own families.  We thank you for supplying what we cannot.” ~ Joe & Marie R.

Blood donations are imperative for the upmost survival rate of our cancer patients for all ages.  Please keep in mind, if you do not/cannot do so, please spread the word regardless… someone out there that you know may want to donate… all you have to do is ask.

·         Donations must be made in our MSK Donor Room- 1250 First Avenue, between 67th & 68th Street in the lobby of the Schwartz Building.
